We need passion, not a police state

THE NSW Police Force’s Operations Support Group is an elite unit with responsibilities including riot control, bomb searches, and extracting violent prisoners. Their past work ­includes suppressing the riots in Cronulla and Macquarie Fields a decade ago, but now their responsibilities could ­include preventing people from walking in the aisles during A-League games, stopping football chants, and confiscating banners.
